Garry Cardinal
Welcome to my
Romeo Page.
Romeo was my friend. He was an orange tabby with a white breast, tummy
and white paws and a kink on the end of his tail. He was at first porky at
21 lb but over the years he gradually trimmed out to a fine figure at 12
lb.
Romeo's papers indicate he was born 19 June 1994. He was adopted by my
daughter in Edmonton on 22 June 1998. They moved to Vancouver 1999. I drove
and picked up Romeo from Vancouver and we arrived home 15 October 2000.
Before adopting Romeo I inquired about having a cat at my apartment.
They declined. I subsequently bought a condo. So Romeo was my 86 thousand
dollar cat. In retrospect, my home is his legacy.
During his last year Romeo would suddenly collapse on the floor, on his
side, thrashing his legs struggling to regain balance. I saw him collapse
once and righted him, holding him between my knees, hovering over him until
he recovered. While this was happening, I thought to myself, "I guess I
need a new cat."
During the final years of his life, not one day went by that he wasn't
picked up and cuddled and know he was loved.
On the afternoon of 24 March 2016 Romeo went to sleep in my arms.
We shared a home for 5639 days. 2000-10-15 to 2016-03-24. I still miss
him.
